Limerick

A Limerick is a little poem. We were doing these just for fun. To make a Limerick you need 2 rhyming words and then another to rhyming words that, are rhyming words but not the same as the other ones. Then one more at the end. If you make one can you please sent it to me I would love to see it.

  1. Hi Ben
I helped Rebekah with her limerick poetry during lockdown. I had to google what limerick poetry was as I couldn’t remember doing this as school (It was tooooo many years).
You have done a good job with the words. It must have been tricky coming up with the words to fit in?

  3. Kia ora Ben,
You should be extremely proud of yourself for coming up with these two excellent limerick poems!
You have included some great lines in your poetry, and I appreciate how the limerick’s follow a theme and manage to include humour at the same time.
In your first poem, you mentioned how a bear didn’t want to share.
How did you come up with this idea?
What was it that the bear wasn’t sharing?
In your second limerick, you wrote about almost getting hit in the ‘mush’ by a Piwakawaka.
    What exactly is a ‘mush’?
Was this a real event that occurred, or did you just create this for your poem?
Was it difficult to find rhyming words that matched your poem?
It would be awesome if you could reply to this comment and let me know!
The images you chose to accompany your slideshow are fantastic, and I specifically like your opening image of the big, brown, fluffy bear!
Quick Tip- Perhaps you could edit this blogpost and rewrite your definition of a limerick. It is a bit tricky to understand, however if you use line numbers rather than the rhyming words to explain it will be easier for your viewers to grasp.
    Keep up the great work!
    Nga mihi
