Minecraft Build Challenge

 Okay okay, I said that I would be doing weekly blogs but it's almost been a month. But that's not the point of this blog. We have been using Minecraft to make challenges to write about. We had to make stuff on the island that we could survive with on the island. Then we took Screenshots of the things we made and put them on a Google Doc. And then write about the things that were on the island and why we had them. We have been using Minecraft to show the other teachers that Minecraft can be used for learning.

Writing

We had chosen to make many things for this Challenge. We had made a Bunker, 2 Houses, a Well, a Carrot farm, and a blossom tree. 

I made a floating house and just a house with underground tunnels that takes you to an END PORTAL. Ben made the end portal. My floating house has underwater tunnels. Ben made a carrot farm underwater. We had chosen to make a farm because we needed food to survive, and we had a well for water. We made a bunker with all the things we need, we have a book chest, even an ender chest. But the bunker is camouflaged into a house. We had made the blossom tree for it to feel like there were more trees. We have a house out on the water and it leads to a fish tank. But you're underwater and the fish are above you, and it leads to the carrot farm. We have a secret entrance to lead into the end portal, but you have to pull the secret lever to get it to activate. We also put buried treasure on the island. Do you think you would be able to survive on this island, with all of these things? If you think you could, go to Ben and you can try to survive on the island with nothing.

Where I've been

 The reason why I haven't been doing any blog posts for the past two months is that We haven't been able to use Blogger because of the rules saying we had to be old enough.  But today we have started to reuse it. This is my first blogger post in over 2 months. maniakalani had shut down bloggers because you had to be over 13 to use this site. But we had still been using it at under 13, so maniakalani shut down blogger for primary schools. But when everyone had no hope for our school, we had started doing blogs on Google sites. Which turned out to be kinda fun, but we did not get to finish off any of them. I think that it was kind of stupid that they shut down blogger because blogger had so many good features that we learned, then they all just went down the drain. But we got it back in the end, better late than never is what I also say.

BUILD TO THE SKY

 This week for reading we have been doing it on Amazing Structures, like bridges and sky scrapers. We had to read 2 articles. Next we had to go onto google maps and measure with building. But the best part of this reading is we get to build a bridge or a sky scraper in MINECRAFT, then take a screen shot then put it on your reading VNB. My favourite part of this reading is going to be making my bridge in Minecraft. What's your favourite structure in the world? Let me know.    

I am A MAGICIAN!

This week for reading, we are doing it on magic. With our magic reading we had to read 3 articles and make a E Book on a Magician. Then we had to do 3 magic tricks in front of our family. We also had to come up with a name for ourselves, I called myself The Great and Amazing Boy. My favourite part of this reading was making the E book, because I love making E books.  In the past few days we have been making a formal letter to put in a Time Capsule. A Time Capsule is something that you hide somewhere and if someone finds it will get send to you, and we are writing to our selves. First step was to write a formal letter to our selves. We are going to put stuff from the current time of 2021 and then hopefully someone will find it then will send it to us and we can see what has been happening in 2021, because we would have forgotten what is going on now. The only thing we know that we are going to put in there is a and the letters Covid Mask. I have been having some fun doing this Time Capsule. Have you ever made a Time Capsule before? First flight of Kaniere 2021

You might be thinking, why have I made another Rocket blog? Because that bottle didn't have carbonated water so it EXPLODED!!! So we got someone carbonated water bottles and started putting on the fins and we were going to put a tennis ball on top. But I put sand in there and the same with Lincoln. The first thing I did was cut off the top of a bottle and then put some sand into it as my weight. Next I had to clue the top of the bottle back on then Mr A put some duct tape on it because Mr A is very smart. Then I cut out some fins but I haven't finished cutting them out. But Lincoln managed to finish his Rocket and we blasted that one off. Can you give me anything that could help me make a better Rocket?

I almost died! (not real)

 A few weeks ago we made some Anzac letter home from Gallipoli. The first thing we did with this we looked at a dairy to someone who got put in prison in the Anzac war. They made a story about what they do there. Then Mr A told us that we were going to make letters home from Gallipoli.

First we had to write our letters on our computers so we had everything planned out. When we finished we got some paper and put some wet tea bags and dip them on it and made it look like really 100 year old paper. Then we left it outside for about 5 minutes and then we started writing. With the writing there isn’t that much to say about it because it was easy just long. When I finished we put some pictures on the poster and then we were finished. Do you know a lot about Anzac? Tell me in the comments.

The Best Swimmer in the World!!!

 We have had swimming sports recently. With swimming sports year 4, 5 and 6s swim at the Hokitika pool qualify for the districts. Only year 5 and 6s can go to districts. My races were 3 lengths freestyle ,2 lengths freestyle, 1 length freestyle. 2 lengths backstroke, 1 length backstroke, 1 length breaststroke, 2 lengths breaststroke, 3 lengths, IM wihich is 1 length backstroke ,1 length breaststroke, 1 length freestyle. and lastly butterfly. Do you enjoy swimming as much as I do?. Have you ever done butterfly or breaststroke tell me in the comments?

I Am A Professional Cricket Player

 Yesterday we went outside and did cricket practices. Two men from Canterbury Cricket came to work with us. First they asked us who was the fastest. Cooper thought she was really fast so she was the first in for ball tag. When someone got tagged they had to help the tagger. Oscar  and I where  the last people left. Then we did some catching. All we had to do was catch the ball. Then we did some batting. We got three bats and whatever team got the most hits won. Our team WON!!!.Do you want to play Cricket? If you do send me a picture.

Klewed up "Chill" Dren

 4 days ago we went to Clued up Kids. 'Clued up Kids' was a group of emergency services, NZ Rail, NZ Search and Rescue and others who were there teaching us about all kinds of safety. 

ST. Johns were there to teach us some basic First Aid.  It was fun learning about how to wrap a badge around a knife that was stuck into you. There were also people teaching us about animal safety, around horses. They told us if you are going to be behind a a horse you let them know you're there, because if you scare them they will kick you, and that could kill you. Then we went to the Police area. The Policeman were with someone from the rescue team. They told us all the things that they would need to go and rescue if someone got lost. Then we went to 'how to make your house safe.' They told us to walk around the tables (house) and see how many things you can see that can hurt you. I didn't like doing the animal safety because I do not like horse's. I liked doing the police because all I needed to join was just finish high school. You might be able to go to Clued Up Kids too?
