You are right this could be a reflection because the sides are exactly the same just one is white the other is black. Why do you think the artist has chosen to do the simple colours of black and white?
You have done an awesome job interpreting what you see in this painting. I also noticed that both sides are the same, just opposite with one side light and one side dark. I love how you have described this as being like a shadow on one side or like a mirror image!
I found that every time I look at this image, I noticed something different. Did you notice how the birds seem to almost fit together like a puzzle at some places. Do you notice anything more looking at it again?
