Science

Today we were doing Science for the last day of school. I thought that we were going to be making crystal but we were making something that dissolve water. I learn't that when you get water and with Sodium polyacrylate. it expand, and when you add salt it will dissolve. We are doing this for a fun  then to do for the end of the term. We got spoons and counted how many you got until it filled up me and Haki got 60 tea spoons full of water in the cup.

  1. Kia ora Ben,
Well done on creating such an informative blogpost about your science lesson!
Sodium polyacrylate definitely sounds like an interesting ingredient, and it is great to see you learning about and experimenting with new things.
I really like the way you wrote out your findings so clearly and precisely. You wrote in your blogpost how sodium polyacrylate expands when water is added, and dissolves when salt is added.
How much salt did you need to add, and how long did it take for the reaction to occur?
You also mentioned in your post how you and Haki were able to add 60 teaspoons of water into your cup of sodium polyacrylate.
Did you count each spoon individually or was this just a rough guess?
What did the mixture feel like once the water was added?
    Did it have a scent?
I really like how you included some photos onto this blogpost, and think it is awesome how focused you both look whilst partaking in this experiment!
    Keep blogging!
    Nga mihi

  2. Hi Ben, so did the sodium polyacrylate absorb the water? What product/s is this used in?
